Traumatic day
Saturday, the most unbelievable thing happened. I was attacked in broad daylight by some maniac, who I assume was trying to take my purse. Strange thing was, I can't remember him even grabbing my purse, or yanking on it even. It happened so fast...One second I was walking with Rose, next thing I knew a pair of arms had wrapped themselves around me and were clutching at me frantically. I held my bag tightly to my chest, leaned forward, was basically tackled to the ground, and then he was off running. I never even saw his face. It was 2 pm, a bright, sunny day about 100 yards from the apartment-two kids were playing on the sidewalk near us, and it was all so surreal.
James left Chris a nifty little beating-stick that I will be carrying around with me now. Not that I plan on walking anywhere alone ever again. In reality, I am perfectly fine- a scratched-up elbow and torn pants is all- but the safe neighborhood seems scary to me now. Of course, as Chris put it-if Koreans weren't such wusses, I'd probably be out $400 dollars, an IPOD, and all my ID's. And maybe worse off than that. But thank God...
I am now officially ready to come home. 40'ish days to go.
